What is XPointer?

  • XPointer is a W3C recommdendation that provides extensions to the Xpath recommendation that are needed by the Xlink recommendation. See the discussion of Xpath for more information.
  • While Xpath is often thought of as being part of XLink, it is a separate recommendation that can be used with any XML document type.
